The railway initiative aims to improve travel convenience, reduce logistics costs, decrease oil imports, and contribute to lower CO₂ emissions, supporting sustainable and efficient rail operations. 

The railway projects marked a significant milestone in the growing bilateral infrastructure cooperation between India and Sri Lanka.

PM Modi will inaugurate the Jammu railway division and a terminal station in Telangana on Monday via videoconferencing.

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that Indian Railways will run 7,000 special trains to accommodate the increased demand during the Diwali and Chhath festivals.   

Railway, Aviation And Road projects are aimed at the development of the overall connectivity of Jammu and Kashmir to other parts of the country.  

Of the total order book, the share of the Vande Bharat trains was around Rs 9,000 crore, and Rs 7,000 crore was for several metro projects. 

In 2017-18, Odisha had received Rs 5,102 crore for the sector.

Prabhu also said that work on integrated transport system is underway.

New projects worth over Rs 10,000 cr will be launched and several old projects will be completed by Railways during its ongoing fortnight programme, Union minister Suresh Prabhu said Wednesday.

With a view to raise financial resources for funding port-related railway projects, government today approved formation of a special purpose vehicle with an initial capital of Rs 500 crore.

Government is seeking overseas investment for infrastructure projects worth over USD 75 billion in sectors like power, roads and railways over the next few years.

Government Monday invited France to "open shops" in the country to execute Railway projects and sought co-operation in areas of safety, customer service and high-speed train service.
