The passengers who booked tickets via IRCTC’s payment gateway IRCTC-ipay, will receive their refund immediately after cancelling their ticket. The new arrangements will let passengers book tatkal and regular tickets quickly besides cancelling them. IRCTC has upgraded its user interface along with the IRCTC-ipay feature due to which it is taking less time to book tickets.

The RPF of Indian Railways has disrupted the operation of illegal software called “Real Mango” used for cornering confirmed railway reservation. Field units of RPF have been able to apprehend 50 criminals so far including the Kingpin (system developer) and key managers involved in the operation. Five key operatives of the illegal software have been arrested from West Bengal.

The amount has been transferred to the account from where the payment was earlier made to book the tickets. 

In a major move, the Railway Protection Force (RPF) conducted a special "Operation Thunder" across the country, where it ceased 22,253 tickets of Rs. 32,99,093. Watch full video to know more.

Passengers can continue to book up to six railway tickets a month without validating their Aadhaar cards.

To curb the menace of unauthorised agents who book tickets online in bulk, sometimes using illegal software, and indulge in black-marketing, Central Railway (CR) has launched a massive drive against such activities across its five divisions.

Railways have decided to provide the `buy tickets now and pay later` service for any Express trains, an IRCTC official said on Thursday.  

Facing criticism, the railways Thursday said that the decision to introduce dynamic surge pricing for premier train tickets has been done on an experimental basis and it will be reviewed after some time.

Ticket cancellation and availing of refund has been made easier as a dedicated counter for this purpose is being set up at the existing passenger reservation facilities at its various stations, railways said Tuesday.

The new rules for cancellation of train tickets will not cause inconvenience to passengers, rather it will help in checking black marketeering of tickets, Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu said.

Indian Railways has modified rules on identity proof of passengers travelling on tickets issued under its Tatkal Scheme, it was officially announced here today.

The revised rules for refund of cancelled railway tickets, which are aimed at facilitating early confirmation of wait-listed passengers, have come into effect from Wednesday.

Now travellers can book train tickets four months in advance as the Railways has decided to extend the advance reservation period from 60 days to 120 days, with effect from April 1.

Not only the process of booking tickets online on IRCTC website will become easier but the tickets might get cheap too.
