Hadlee, who once held the world record of taking most Test wickets with his 431 scalps, has no qualms in asserting that the shortest format will not survive if Tests are not taken care of.

Australia has been a difficult place to come for New Zealand, who have lost six and drawn three of their nine test series there since that triumph more than 30 years ago.

Richard Hadlee is considered one of the finest fast bowlers of all time having retired in 1990 with 431 test wickets.

Due to a rotational policy implemented by the board, one of the two directors had to step down and Hadlee took the decision on behalf of the two-member panel.

Now going on the list of four-match series, Ali stands alongside former Kiwi paceman Richard Hadlee. They are the only two players to score more 250 runs and take 20 wickets in a four-match series. In fact, Ali's 25 wickets off the four matches is the highest ever in his career, thus rightfully awarded the Man of the Match award. 

He achieved his feat in the 123 over of their innings when he stepped out to smash Rangana Herath for a fabulous six over long-off. With that, he not only notched up his 11th Test fifty, but brought up 2000 Test runs.
