Days after seeking a special diet in the prison, Sushil Kumar has now demanded a TV in his cell.
Kumar has written a letter to the Tihar administration saying that he wants a TV so that he can catch up on the news.
The two-time Olympic winner is currently lodged in jail for his alleged role in murder of wrestler Sagar Dhankar.
The Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested a close aide of Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar in connection with the Chhatrasal Stadium brawl in which a wrestler died and his two friends were injured, officials said on Friday.
A senior police officer said the accused, identified as Anirudh, was involved in the alleged assault. He was arrested in the national capital on Thursday.
On June 2, the district court had sent Sushil to judicial custody for nine days. He was arrested on May 23, following which he was interrogated by the police for 10 days.
Sushil Kumar and his associates allegedly assaulted Sagar Dhankar and two of his friends Sonu Mahal and Amit Kumar at Chhatrasal Stadium on the intervening night of May 4 and 5 over a property dispute.
The 23-year-old succumbed to the injuries later.
The Court directions came while hearing the plea of a man seeking directions for providing the protection to the petitioner and his family in pursuance to the FIR registered at Police Station Model Town.
Counsel for the witnesses Ajay Pipaniya confirmed that the concerned authorities of Haryana are also directed to provide adequate security to several witnesses residing in Haryana.
He also said that an Inspector level officer is also deputed in Delhi for providing security to the witnesses in the case.
The 38-year-old wrestler, Sushil Kumar, a prime suspect in the alleged murder case, and his associate Ajay Bakkarwala were arrested by a team of Special Cell, Delhi Police on May 23 in the Mundka area of the national capital.
According to the police, in an effort to evade the arrest, Kumar crossed the borders of seven stated and union territories in a span of 18 days and constantly changed his SIM cards.
Kumar and his associates allegedly assaulted wrestler Sagar Rana (23) and two of his friends, Sonu and Amit Kumar, at the Chhatrasal stadium here on the intervening night of May 4 and 5. Sagar succumbed to the injuries later.
Sushil Kumar was arrested along with co-accused Ajay from outer Delhi’s Mundka on May 23. The two-time Olympic medallist was on the run for nearly three weeks.
Two-time Olympic medalist Sushil Kumar spent his birthday in a lockup on Wednesday after being remanded to six days police custody in connection with the murder of a wrestler at the Chhatrasal Stadium in New Delhi.
Police said he remained quiet through the day. Sushil Kumar was born on May 26, 1983.
Sushil Kumar was arrested on Sunday morning along with his aide Ajay Kumar, who has been on the run for over 18 days in several states after the death of wrestler Sagar Rana after the brawl on May 4 at Chhatrasal stadium.
Sushil, who was on deputation with Delhi government since 2015 had already got extension for 2020 and was trying to get it for 2021 too.
The general manager of Northern Railway, in consultation with other senior officials including legal department, will decide future course of action next week.
Several teams, including the Crime Branch and four teams of the Special cell, conducted raids in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana and Punjab, another official said.
The Delhi Police had announced a reward of Rs one lakh for information leading to the arrest of Sushil Kumar, who had since been on the run.
Another reward of Rs 50,000 was announced for Ajay Kumar’s arrest.
