SC declined to stay the Delhi HC order allowing private unaided schools to collect annual fee and development charges from the students for the period after the lockdown ended in the national capital last year. A bench headed by Justice A.M. Khanwilkar said: "We are not inclined (to stay the order)."

The Calcutta High Court on Tuesday (October 13) ordered a 20% fee cut in tuition fees in all “non-government aided schools” in the state due to coronavirus COVID-19 outbreak. A three-member committee has been constituted by the court to look into all fee-related complaints. The order was issued by a division bench of justices Sanjib Banerjee and Moushumi Bhattacharya on a PIL plea filed by a guardians’ forum of over 140 educational institutions.

The order was passed by the bench of Chief Justice Ravi Shankar Jha and Justice Arun Palli while disposing of the PIL filed by Pankaj Chandgothia.
