Nagaland Chief Minister has said NSCN(K) chairman passed away before any solution to the protracted Naga political problem.
Khaplang, 77, died at the NSCN-K Council Headquarters in Taga in Myanmar`s Sagaing Division on Friday night.
Khaplang died following a cardiac arrest at Takka in Myanmar last night.
In a move to bring lasting peace to Nagaland, a group of people representing the civil society in the state has reached Myanmar to bring the NSCN-K back on the peace path.
NSCN-K leader SS Khaplang never wanted ceasefire with the Indian government and had agreed to it only because of pressure from the Naga civil society, according to NSCN-Unification general secretary Kitovi Zhimomi.
Three months after the gruesome attack in Manipur that left 18 army personnel dead, NIA on Thursday announced a bounty of Rs 17 lakh for providing information about two top leaders of militant Naga group NSCN-K including its chief SS Khaplang who were allegedly behind the strike.
