Tillerson arrived in Brussels for talks with EU and NATO leaders trailed by reports that President Donald Trump is frustrated with his performance and plans to sack him.

Tillerson on Thursday made an unannounced visit to the White House after news of his ouster spread in the media.

In an interview on Fox News, Trump attacked the department under Tillerson, the secretary of state, and said he alone determines US foreign policy. 

"Nothing has changed despite what you may read in the media or watch on TV. I would certainly trust the president and my comments far above those of other reporters," Sanders said.

The United States sees China as critical to averting a military confrontation with Pyongyang, which is fast advancing toward its goal of developing a nuclear-tipped missile capable of reaching the United States. 

Trump has been counting on China to use its economic leverage with the government of North Korean leader Kim Jong Un as American concern grows over the North's acceleration toward having a nuclear missile that can strike the US mainland

British police briefly suspended intelligence sharing with the United States on Thursday after private details of their investigation repeatedly appeared in American media.

The test of what the US military described as a medium- range missile fired from Pukchang, North Korea was the second this week, and the 10th this year.

In recent communications with US lawmakers, top officials of the Trump administration have reiterated that there is no change in the US policy with regard to Tibet.
