Toyota said Wednesday it was recalling 6.5 million vehicles worldwide over a power window glitch that presented a fire risk, the latest in a string of such moves by the Japanese auto giant.

The company, which is present in the Indian market through a joint venture with the Kirloskar Group -- Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) -- today introduced an updated hybrid version of the sedan priced at Rs 31.92 lakh.

The reason behind this recall is to replace a faulty component which fails to prevent oil from entering the air intake system.

Buoyed by the response to its hybrid sedan Camry, Japanese auto major Toyota is mulling bringing more such vehicles with alternate fuel technology in India.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) is recalling 119 units of its sedan Camry, manufactured between March and July 2011 in Japan and sold in India, to rectify a defect in front suspension.
