The railways had also suspended train services between Bihar's Darbhanga and Samastipur. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) team is deployed at several flood-affected areas. Nearly, 93.89 lakh people have been evacuated so far, out of which more than 12,000 have taken shelter at 22 relief camps.

According to information shared by the railway authority, a total of 15 trains, including the Howrah Express from Tirupati and Ernakulam, were cancelled, while 10 trains, including the Shalimar Express from Tiruvananthapuram, were partially cancelled following the agitation on Sunday (December 16). Oncoming trains from Puri, Odisha were also cancelled on Monday.

Heavy downpour and water-logging across Mumbai led to the rescheduling, cancellation and short-termination of several trains. Vehicular traffic was also paralysed, with routes of several BEST buses being changed and some being called off. The pedestrian movement was also disrupted due to flooded roads.

Come winter and all north-bound trains get delayed for hours due to poor visibility during foggy weather, causing a ripple effect on the congested network.
