As many as 59 lives were lost in the 1997 case of the Uphaar Cinema fire.
The order was passed by a three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice SA. Bobde, and comprising Justices NV Ramana and Arun Mishra.
The court also directed senior lawyer Ram Jethmalani, who appeared for Ansal, to ask the real estate baron to complete the rest of his jail term.
The CBI, which has probed and prosecuted the two owners in the case, has been opposing the de-sealing and release of the cinema hall.
The Supreme Court on Thursday ordered Gopal Ansal, convicted for June 13, 1997, Uphaar fire tragedy in which 59 people lost their lives, to serve one year jail sentence, of which he had already served four months.
