The Modi government has given a huge gift to the central employees. The Union Cabinet has decided to give 78 days performance linked bonus to railway employees. Recently, the government had announced a 4% increase in dearness allowance for central employees.

The move is going to benefit about 50 lakh central government employees across the country.

The LTC allows the grant of leave and ticket reimbursement to employees who are entitled under the rules to travel to their home towns and other places.

The DA/DR has been hiked by 1 percent over the existing rate of 4 percent of the basic pay/pension to compensate for price rise and it is in accordance with the accepted formula based on the recommendation of 7th pay commission, the statement said.

Lower level employees will get HRA hike of up to 157 percent from their July month salaries as against 122 percent for higher level employees. But when DA will cross 50% then higher level employees will receive 176 percent hike as against 157 percent hike for lower level employees.

The central government employees will get maximum monthly HRA (House Rent Allowance) hike of Rs 33,000 from their July month salaries but it will be revised upwards by Rs 40,500 and Rs 48,000 when DA crosses 25 percent and 50 percent respectively.  

The government has more than doubled risk and hardship allowance for armymen in Siachen and hiked the same for security forces deployed for counter insurgency operations and in Naxal-hit areas.

All allowances given under 7th Pay Commission recommendation will be effective from 1st July 2017.

For the central government employees belonging to highest level in the pay matrix, HRA has been increased from Rs 27,000 to Rs 60,000, meaning a hike of 122 percent. However, the HRA for these employees will be revised upwards to Rs 67,500, and Rs 75,000 when DA crosses 25% and 50% respectively.
