The Organised by the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and the Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI), IMC 2025 promises to be a major event for industry leaders, policymakers, and technology enthusiasts. 

According to the leading industry body, the situation is further aggravated due to the additional requirement of street furniture for the 5G networks.

The industry body urged the DoT to intervene and take strict measures to put a complete ban on the sale of Wi-Fi products operating in the 6 GHz band. 

COAI is the association of Mobile Operators'. COAI urged the govt. to cut in license fee to 1 percent. The association also urges to waive customs duty on 5G network equipment.

COAI counts telecom operators as its members. As per the sources, the auto industry sought the government's support for establishing an EV manufacturing base. The participants gave suggestions on the 2023-24 Budget.

COAI issued a stern warning saying that telecom users should not fall into this trap and must not click on any malicious links that have the potential to steal their data from their smartphones or computers. The industry body asked users to break this chain by not forwarding such false messages to any friends or relatives. To stop this, one should simply delete and not forward such messages and therefore, we can together fight this menace and save others from getting cheated, the report said.

Telecom companies are now issuing a public advisory. COAI further warned all telecom users and urged them not to click on any malicious links. The industry body further urged users to break the chain.

In the letter dated November 27, the COAI also demanded regulatory levies like spectrum payment, licence fee and spectrum usage charges be exempt from GST levy.

The COAI's comments assume significance given that hectic parleys continue between the government and industry over liquidity concerns in telecom sector.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) on August 18 issued stricter version of quality of service rules which will be come into effect from October 1. 

Regulator Trai's decision to cut call connection charge rate by more than half, if executed, will hit earnings of old mobile operators to the tune of Rs 5,000 crore in the current fiscal, industry body COAI on Wednesday said.

The amount is to be deposited in the Telecom Consumers Education and Protection Fund (TCEPF) as Idea would not be able to make the refund to subscribers in view of non- availability of the rated call data records.

The subscriber base of Bharti Airtel reached 28.12 crore in July.
