In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on 24 July 2025, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said that government employees are allowed to take leaves for taking care of their elderly parents.
Central government employees are allowed to take up to 30 days of earned leave in a year for personal reasons, including caring for elderly parents. This clarification was made by Union Minister Jitendra Singh in the Rajya Sabha, citing provisions under the Central Civil Services (Leave) Rules, 1972.
The 8th Pay Commission has been approved and is expected to revise salaries and pensions for government employees and retirees. Many now await the official timeline and details of the hike.
