In a written reply in the Rajya Sabha on 24 July 2025, Union Minister Jitendra Singh said that government employees are allowed to take leaves for taking care of their elderly parents.

Central government employees are allowed to take up to 30 days of earned leave in a year for personal reasons, including caring for elderly parents. This clarification was made by Union Minister Jitendra Singh in the Rajya Sabha, citing provisions under the Central Civil Services (Leave) Rules, 1972.  

The 8th Pay Commission has been approved and is expected to revise salaries and pensions for government employees and retirees. Many now await the official timeline and details of the hike.  

A government employee’s pay has many parts, basic pay, dearness allowance (DA), house rent allowance (HRA), transport allowance (TA), and other small benefits. 

Tamil Nadu Government has issued an official notification formally increasing the marriage advance fee for male and female employees. According to the Tamil Nadu Budget, the marriage advance amount will be increased to Rs 5 lakh in near future.

The DoPT rule issued on 28 March 2025 allows female AIS officers/pensioners to nominate her child/children or family pension in precedence to her husband in due to the following reasons.

The finance department issued a resolution raising the DA from the current 50 per cent to 53 per cent of the basic pay under the Gujarat State Services (Pay Revision) Rules, 2016, benefiting over nine lakh employees and pensioners. 

Himachal CM Sukhu said by deferring the payment of salaries and pensions, the government would save Rs 3 crore monthly and Rs 36 crore annually being paid as interest on loans.

The 7th Pay Commission, headed by former chief secretary K Sudhakar Rao, has recommended a 27.5 percent hike on basic salary of government employees.

In the press conference, Anurag Thakur has said that the government is dedicated to the farmers. A big announcement of subsidy on Rabi crops has also been made. 7th Pay Commission DA Hike: Good news has come for more than one crore government employees before Diwali. From July 1, 2023, 4 percent DA will be given to central employees and pensioners. Rs 12857 crore will be spent on this. Employees will get the benefit of DA from July 1, 2023.

Directives were issued via a government order to manage matters related to service affairs starting from October 1, 2023, on the human resources portal created by the National Informatics Centre.

The bench noted that entitlement to receive increment crystallises when the government servant completes requisite length of service with good conduct and becomes payable on the succeeding day.

For now, government officials can only wear suit-coats in winter or in meetings with foreign representatives. The Prime Minister gave this instruction at the meeting of the Executive Committee of ECNEC in Dhaka. The Prime Minister ordered to be more vocal against various types of wastage and corruption.

The government has prohibited its employees from using third-party VPN services such as ExpressVPN, NordVPN, and others. This comes after firms such as ExpressVPN, Surfshark, and NordVPN indicated that they would be pulling their servers out of India. Employees are also advised not to "root" or "jailbreak" their handsets.
