The incidents related to the theft of a 'bir' (copy) of the Guru Granth Sahib, handwritten sacrilegious posters, and pages of the holy book being torn at Bargari in Faridkot had taken place in 2015.

The bullet-hit `bir` (scripture) of the Guru Granth Sahib has been put on display at the Golden Temple complex. The bir was struck by a bullet during Operation Bluestar conducted in 1984, Sikhs consider a physical copy of the Guru Granth Sahib as a living guru and treat it with the utmost respect.

SGPC has appealed to Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib to take strict action against a person associated with the Sikh Book Club, who has committed an "unacceptable act" by adding extra lagan-matravan (punctuations of Gurmukhi) and bindis (dots) by changing the original verses of Gurbani.
