Ola, Uber, Rapido Peak Hour Pricing: The Passenger will not incur a separate charge for dead mileage unless the total trip is under 3 km. In all other cases, the fare will apply only to the distance between the pickup and drop-off points.

To make BH series registration more accessible to people, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has issued new rules that allow the transfer of vehicles with BH series registration.

The step has been taken in view of the COVID-19 pandemic situation in India. It is mandatory to have an airbag in the driver's seat in the current models. The Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) had demanded an extension in the deadline.

A PUC Certificate is a document that is provided to vehicle owners upon inspection of emission levels. The Ministry will launch a common format of pollution certificate. The PUC form also needs to have details of the vehicle, owner and emission status.

The owner can now put the name of the nominee at the time of registration of the vehicles. The owner of a vehicle has to submit proof of the identity of the nominee. The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways on November 27, 2020, had proposed to amend the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989.

It is advised that the validity of the documents that have expired since February 1, the same may be treated to be valid till June 30, 2021, the ministry said in an advisory to states. Enforcement authorities are advised to treat such documents valid till June 30, 2021, the MoRTH said adding that "this will help out citizens in availing transport-related services". Stating that this may be the last advisory in this regard, the ministry has asked the states to implement this advisory in letter and spirit, so that citizens are not harassed or face difficulties.

This will be issued after the submission of relevant documents and fees deposited, within 30 days. The new set of rules, which are known as, “All India Tourist Vehicles Authorization and Permit Rules, 2021" will be applicable from April 1, 2021. The scheme will also help in the consolidation of a central database and provide an overall sense of tourist movements and lead to insights about the further scope of improvement.

The Ministry has published draft rules and will seek suggestions from stakeholders for 30 days before notifying them. The move is seen to be in line with the government's recently announced Scrappage Policy, which aims to take old and higher polluting vehicles off the road for environmental protection. There are more than 10 million old and polluting vehicles in India and this move is expected to get rid of old police vans, postal vans, state transport buses, and ambulances to name a few.

This is aimed at preventing the forgery of documents of absconding drivers in a road accident. With this, police can easily track the accused and get complete information about the driver. Currently, the ministry has started providing 18 services related to driving license and RCs online such as renewal of DL, learner's license and change of address in DL.

The Centre extended the validity of vehicular documents like DLs, RCs, permits etc till Mach 31, 2021 due to COVID-19. The Centre had earlier issued advisories dated March 30, 2020, June 9, and August 24 regarding the extension of validity of documents. It was said that validity of Fitness, Permit (all types), License, Registration will be treated to be valid till Dec 31 2020.
