The Kerala police constituted a Special Investigation Team to probe the Air India Express crash at nearby Karipur international airport on 18 passengers, including the pilot and co-pilot. The 30-member team will be headed by Malappuram Additional Superintendent of Police G Sabu, a government release said.

A former IAF Wing Commander, Captain Sathe was commissioned into service on June 11, 1981, and retired on June 30, 2003. He flew through the Airbus 310 for Air India before moving to Air India Express on the Boeing 737.
