TRAI has advised citizens to be vigilant and do not get panicked to fall prey to suspected Fraudsters. They are further advised to cross-verify such Calls by contacting the authorized Call Centres or Customer Service Centres of the respective TSP.
Citizens can use Sanchar Sathi App to report misuse of telecom resources in cybercrime and cyber frauds, Ministry of Communications said.
In a major step to curb the misuse of URLs (uniform resource locators) in messages, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) had issued a directive on August 20, and then extended it till September 30.

India is now the 4th most-affected country by spam calls. Just one phone number made over 202 million spam calls in India, as per the Truecaller report. Roughly, 6.64 lakh calls were made every day by the spam number in India; 27,000 calls/hour. As per a 2017 survey, 6 out of 10 people in India received spam calls when they were busy.
This year, India has reached the fourth position among the 20 countries affected by spam calls. Only one scammer makes an average of 202 million spam calls per spammer in India. Whereas 27,000 calls are made every hour and 6,64,000 daily from the same phone number.
