With some places in Patna inundated following the floods, the threat of a dengue epidemic looms large over the region. In the state capital, which was worst-affected by the heavy downpour, at least 1,410 patients have been tested positive for dengue.
RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav remarked that the severe waterlogging in Patna is not a natural calamity and chief minister Nitish Kumar should take responsibility for the ongoing crisis and resign.

"I am asking in how many parts of the country and across the world, have there been floods? Is water in some parts of Patna the only problem we have? What happened in America? "What about Mumbai?" Nitish Kumar said.
"We are extending every possible relief effort to the people affected by the floods in the city. We are doing everything we can. No one is sitting idle. This is a natural calamity which was magnified by climate change," Kumar told media persons outside the camp.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and other Central agencies are carrying out rescue operations across Bihar. Twenty teams of the NDRF have been deployed in the Bihar of which six have been located in Patna, which is worst-hit.
On Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to discuss the flood situation in Bihar and said that the central government will provide all possible assistance.

Earlier today, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had said that the administration is making all efforts to help people and that proper arrangements are in place.
With overflowing drains throughout the city, water has also entered different houses in many localities of Patna.
